Apple is reportedly set to integrate Google’s Gemini AI into a revamped Siri, signaling a notable collaboration between tech rivals. According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, this new Siri, a key part of Apple’s broader “Apple Intelligence,” is expected around March 2026, coinciding with new hardware releases like a smart home display, an updated Apple TV, and a refreshed HomePod mini.
The forthcoming Siri upgrade will reportedly use Google Gemini, the flagship generative AI, to enhance voice interactions and AI-driven web search. Apple is reportedly compensating Google to develop a custom Gemini version tailored for Siri.
This move marks a strategic shift for Apple, which has historically prioritized in-house development and user privacy. While investing in its own AI, Apple appears to be leveraging external partnerships to stay competitive in the evolving AI landscape.
The Gemini integration is described as a major overhaul for Siri. Apple aims to transform Siri into a more intelligent system capable of handling complex tasks. However, Gurman notes that the new Siri’s success isn’t guaranteed. “There’s no guarantee users will embrace it, that it will work seamlessly, or that it can undo years of damage to the Siri brand,” he wrote.
