Bharti Space Ltd, the satellite and space-tech arm of Bharti Enterprises, is committing an additional €120 million (~₹1,204 crore) to French satellite major Eutelsat, reaffirming its
support even as its stake in the company is set to reduce.
This follows a €30 million investment in June, taking Bharti’s total contribution in Eutelsat’s latest fundraising to €150 million (~₹1,505 crore). The capital raise has now been expanded
to €1.5 billion, up from €1.35 billion, as Eutelsat looks to strengthen its global footprint in satellite communications. Post-investment, Bharti’s stake will dilute from 24.09% to 17.88%, while the French government will become the largest shareholder with a 29.65% stake, backed by a €750 million infusion through both preferential allotment and rights issue. The UK government is also participating, committing €163 million, including €90.1 million via preferential shares.
Despite the dilution, Bharti’s continued investment signals a long-term strategic alignment with Eutelsat, especially in the fast-growing satellite broadband and connectivity space,
where global collaboration is key.
