The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has teamed up with Hero MotoCorp to give a big push to early-stage startups and entrepreneurs. The two have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together through Hero’s innovation accelerator programme, ‘Hero For Startups.’
Under the Startup India initiative, the partnership will focus on startups working in future mobility, clean technology, and deep tech. Selected startups will get access to Hero MotoCorp’s world-class R&D facilities in both Germany and India. They’ll also be able to tap into Hero’s vast network of dealers, suppliers, and partners — plus guidance from seasoned industry experts.
What’s more, startups will have the chance to work on paid Proofs of Concept (PoCs), run pilot projects, and get the market exposure they need to grow faster.
Speaking about the collaboration, DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv said the goal is to help product-focused startups address India’s mobility challenges. “By bringing together industry expertise and grassroots innovation, we can turn ideas into real impact — especially in emerging tech and smaller cities,” he said.
Hero MotoCorp’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Pawan Munjal, called the partnership part of the company’s commitment to nation-building and aligned it with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. “India’s vibrant startup ecosystem is key to building a self-reliant, globally competitive Bharat,” he said.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal from DPIIT and Shri Utkarsh Mishra, Global Innovation Portfolio Lead at Hero MotoCorp, in the presence of senior officials. Both sides believe this collaboration will open new doors for innovation, helping drive initiatives like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat@2047 forward
