Partnership to focus on hardware, IoT, packaging and sustainable manufacturing

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has joined hands with Zepto to give a boost to young manufacturing startups through a new programme called the ‘Zepto Nova’ innovation challenge.

Over the next six months, the programme will handpick early-stage startups working on hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing solutions. These startups will get the support they need to take their ideas from early prototypes to fully market-ready products, using Zepto’s strong delivery network and digital tools.

It’s not just about infrastructure. The plan includes mentorship from industry experts, training workshops, and guidance from the Startup India team. The focus will be on women-led startups and those based in smaller cities (Tier II and Tier III), ensuring opportunities go beyond the big metros. Zepto has also committed to bringing more than 100 Indian startups into its supply chain — giving them a ready-made platform to showcase products and reach customers.

Speaking at the event, DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv said that unicorns like Zepto have both the opportunity and responsibility to support the startup ecosystem, and that market access is often the biggest game-changer for young companies.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal from DPIIT and Zepto Co-founder Shri Kaivalya Vohra, who said the initiative would help shape the future of manufacturing in India.
