Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Qualcomm have joined forces to launch the ‘TCS Innovation Lab’ in Bengaluru, marking a significant advancement in AI-driven industrial solutions. This co-innovation hub aims to pioneer Software Defined Everything (SDx) and Edge AI capabilities, accelerating the digital transformation journeys of global enterprises. By leveraging Qualcomm platforms, TCS will co-create smart, scalable, and sustainable Edge AI solutions designed to enhance efficiency and resilience in various industries. The lab will facilitate the development of customized, low-cost solutions deployable on intelligent devices in real-time, streamlining processes for large organizations.

Located in Bengaluru, India’s innovation hub, the lab will operate as part of the IoT-focused Bringing Life to Things Network lab. Equipped with a 5G private network infrastructure and advanced equipment, it will focus on sectors requiring agile IoT solutions, including security, healthcare, smart infrastructure, and manufacturing. The lab’s infrastructure is specifically designed to support rapid prototyping, experimentation, and the large-scale implementation of Edge AI capabilities built on an SDx approach.

Savi Soin, Sr. VP & President, Qualcomm India, emphasized that this collaboration with TCS is crucial for delivering practical, real-time Edge AI solutions to rapidly evolving industries. The TCS Innovation Lab will serve as a nexus where AI and connectivity converge to address real-world challenges, developing cost-effective, scalable solutions for enterprises aiming to modernize in a software-defined landscape.

With the rising demand for intelligent devices capable of autonomous decision-making, TCS will utilize advanced Edge AI and SDx capabilities that are hardware-agnostic, highly configurable, secure, and service-oriented. These capabilities will enable enterprises to build agile systems that adapt to changes in industry ecosystems. Applications include medical devices, industrial handhelds, smart infrastructure, and advanced safety mechanisms. Running TCS’ SDx capabilities on Qualcomm Technologies’ Edge AI-enabled System-on-Chips will seamlessly integrate the physical and digital realms.

V Rajanna, President, Technology, Software and Services, TCS, highlighted the launch of the co-innovation lab as a commitment to advancing SDx and Edge AI platforms. The lab will focus on next-generation solutions for intelligent medical devices, smart industrial handhelds, and advanced safety systems. TCS’ investment in innovation and AI will enable enterprises to unlock greater agility and long-term business value.

The collaboration builds on previous transformational projects between TCS and Qualcomm Technologies, including silicon solution design and IT support. TCS recently developed a real-time smart visual anomaly detection capability for a major automotive manufacturer, achieving 90% real-time accuracy using Qualcomm Technologies’ edge devices. This system processes live camera feeds to detect surface defects, demonstrating the effectiveness of edge AI solutions.

Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head, IoT & Digital Engineering, TCS, noted that this engagement strengthens their relationship with Qualcomm Technologies and reinforces their vision of an intelligent, connected future. By combining TCS’ SDx approach with Qualcomm Technologies’ Edge AI platforms, TCS aims to deliver adaptive, scalable, and sustainable industry solutions that provide exceptional value to clients across sectors. TCS remains dedicated to developing solutions that support industries in staying agile amidst the growing demand for automated solutions.

TCS leverages its expertise in building industrial platforms and its ER&D domain knowledge to provide intelligent controls and sensors, device prognostics, and AI agents within an intelligent fabric. SDx capabilities, backed by AI-enabled automation, bring resilience to enterprise environments and offer an agile framework for migrating to next-generation network technology platforms.
