The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, is championing the advancement and market introduction of a pioneering 240-volt electric motorcycle platform, marking a significant leap forward in India’s two-wheeler EV sector. This initiative receives crucial support and is spearheaded by M/s Raptee Energy Pvt. Ltd., based in Chennai.

This innovation translates high-voltage technology benefits, previously demonstrated in electric cars, to electric two-wheelers. Operating on a 240V DC architecture, the motorcycle promises quicker charging times, enhanced efficiency, and seamless integration with India’s expanding charging network.

Supporting this high-voltage system, a specialized ARAI-certified battery pack has been engineered alongside the motorcycle platform. Raptee Energy’s in-house, DSIR-recognized R&D unit leverages over six years of focused effort to design, develop, test, and validate key components, including electronics, mechanical systems, and embedded software. This ensures quality control and enhances indigenous value.

The platform incorporates smart features like remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates, alongside sustainable manufacturing practices emphasizing zero waste and emissions. This initiative aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11 & 13).

According to Sh. Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, “High-voltage technology in electric two-wheelers opens new possibilities. By supporting this project, TDB seeks to accelerate domestic innovation and ensure that sustainable mobility solutions are developed within the country.”

Sh. Dinesh Arjun, CEO of Raptee Energy Pvt. Ltd., stated, “TDB’s support validates our R&D efforts and enables us to scale our high-voltage motorcycle platform, contributing to India’s leadership in the global EV transition.”
