OpenAI has launched a major new feature called Company Knowledge in ChatGPT, allowing the AI to securely access internal company data from connected platforms like Slack, Google Drive, SharePoint, GitHub, Gmail, and Intercom to deliver more contextual, business-specific answers.

What the Feature Does
Company Knowledge enables ChatGPT to draw on all relevant organizational data — such as documents, emails, project trackers, and support tickets — directly within chats. This turns ChatGPT into a central, AI-powered knowledge hub that can answer business questions, prepare client briefings, or summarize recent team discussions using verified, company-specific information.

How It Works
The system is powered by a specialized version of GPT‑5, trained to analyze and combine information from multiple internal sources for comprehensive and accurate responses. Importantly, every AI-generated answer includes citations showing exactly where each piece of information came from, empowering users to verify accuracy and trust the results.

Availability and Access
This feature is being rolled out globally for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education subscribers. It respects existing company permissions, meaning ChatGPT only accesses data each user is authorized to view. Integrations can be configured manually through connectors, starting with tools like Intercom, which now lets teams securely pull customer conversations, tickets, and user data directly into ChatGPT.

Impact for Businesses
By bringing together previously siloed work data, ChatGPT now effectively serves as an internal search and decision-support system — allowing teams to make faster, more informed decisions without switching between multiple tools. This represents a major step toward positioning ChatGPT as the central interface for enterprise knowledge management.
