Maharashtra is set to introduce a state-backed ride-hailing app to rival Ola and Uber, aiming to generate employment for local youth. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the initiative, which has received preliminary approval from key state leaders. The app, developed with institutions like MITRA, is nearing completion and considers names like Jai Maharashtra. Sarnaik highlighted the project’s adherence to central aggregator policy guidelines. Officials aim to ensure fare transparency and driver benefits, aligning with the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2020. The move seeks to challenge monopolies and promote fair practices in the transportation sector.
