Mumbai-based femtech startup Nua has successfully raised funding in a recent round, with participation from notable investors such as Samir Singh (EVP – Asia, Colgate Palmolive and former chair of Unilever SE Asia) and Shuchi Kothari (head of DSP Family Office and SRF Limited). The newly raised capital will be used to expand Nua’s retail presence and introduce new product offerings across major sales channels including marketplaces, quick commerce platforms, and retail stores.
The company, which started in 2017 by offering sanitary pads, has since diversified its product range to include period panties, intimate hygiene solutions, cramp relief products, postpartum care essentials, and skincare solutions for cyclical acne. Nua has also gained recognition for being backed by Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Deepika Padukone further boosting its visibility in the femtech space.
Achieving Profitability and Scaling Up
Nua’s co-founder and CEO, Ravi Ramachandran shared that the startup has recently achieved an important milestone turning profitable in Q2. With Rs 100 crore in net revenue ARR in Q3, the company is now on track to hit Rs 150 crore ARR in the upcoming quarter. The fresh infusion of capital will help accelerate growth and innovation as Nua continues to expand its impact in the menstrual health space.
Growing Market Potential and Industry Trends
Nua currently sells its products via its website, Amazon, Flipkart, Zepto, and other e-commerce platforms. To date, the startup has raised $21.5 million from investors including Lightbox VC and Kae Capital.
The global feminine hygiene market is poised for significant growth, with projections estimating an increase from $31.8 billion in 2023 to around $66.7 billion by 2033. This rising demand has fueled investments in the femtech sector with companies like Laiqa Wellness securing Rs 15 crore in funding last year from IvyCap Ventures.
Shaping the Future of Menstrual Health
Speaking on the investment, Srinivas Seshadri head of investments at Mirabilis Investment Trust expressed optimism about Nua’s role in reshaping India’s menstrual health landscape. He highlighted the company’s strong growth trajectory, profitability, and mission driven approach in breaking taboos, offering holistic solutions, and empowering women with better choices.
As femtech continues to gain traction Nua’s journey underscores the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and accessibility in menstrual health, paving the way for a more informed and empowered future.
