Eeki, an innovative agritech startup, has successfully raised $7 million in funding, spearheaded by Sixth Sense Ventures. This investment aims to propel Eeki’s pioneering aeroponic farming system across India, enhancing research and development, and expanding the deployment of its third-generation growing chambers. Founded by IIT Bombay alumni Abhay Singh and Amit Kumar, Eeki is at the forefront of transforming traditional agriculture by cultivating pesticide-free staple vegetables on barren lands throughout the year. The company’s technology delivers up to tenfold yields while utilizing 90% less water, maintaining competitive mandi prices through patented aeroponic chambers and advanced automation.

Eeki’s goal is to address food security by offering weather-resistant farming solutions on non-arable land with viable economic models. Abhay Singh, Eeki’s CEO, emphasized the significance of this funding for scaling climate-resilient agriculture, aspiring to establish a future-ready food system impervious to environmental adversities. He stated, ‘The introduction of aeroponics in our Gen 3 chambers signifies a paradigm shift in precision agriculture, enabling the consistent growth of clean, nutritious vegetables independent of seasons and soil.’

Co-founder Amit Kumar highlighted that 30% of their team is dedicated to optimizing core technology to maximize yield with minimal resource consumption. He said, ‘This funding will help us refine crop production across various zones, positioning Eeki as a leader in nutrition and origin, supported by Sixth Sense’s consumer expertise.’

Nikhil Vora, CEO of Sixth Sense Ventures, lauded Eeki’s model as groundbreaking, having demonstrated superior cost efficiency and scalability potential under India’s challenging conditions. He expressed enthusiasm about backing Eeki’s journey to becoming the world’s most efficient farming enterprise.

Eeki’s strategy involves using aeroponic technology, where plant roots are suspended in mid-air and sprayed with a nutrient-rich mist, reducing water usage by up to 95% compared to conventional methods. This approach ensures precise control over growing conditions, resulting in higher yields and consistent quality at costs similar to traditional agriculture. The startup’s operations not only address environmental challenges like soil degradation and water scarcity but also facilitate the setup of farms in non-arable areas, ensuring local access to fresh produce.
