When access to basic banking services requires traveling hundreds of kilometers, financial empowerment remains out of reach for millions. This was the reality that inspired Hitesh Kaneriya, Co-Founder of Kuberjee, to build a platform that bridges the gap between rural communities and essential financial services.
The Spark Behind Kuberjee
Hitesh’s journey began in a small village in Gujarat where he personally struggled to secure an education loan in 2004. The reason? His family lacked a digital and financial footprint. That experience planted the seed for Kuberjee a solution designed to empower rural women and ensure that no one is left behind in India’s financial inclusion story.

From Tech Expertise to Rural Impact
With over 16 years of experience in technology and fintech, Hitesh previously co-founded D&K Group in 2007 and launched Cubber in 2016, a fintech platform that scaled to 3.5 million users. These experiences taught him how to design scalable, compliant systems for low-connectivity markets a skill set that became the backbone of Kuberjee.
Why Kuberjee Matters
Without Kuberjee, rural families would still depend on distant banks or informal moneylenders for basic financial needs. Today, the platform offers doorstep access to banking, insurance, and digital services from Hospicash insurance to gold savings plans delivered by women from the community itself.
The Power of “Banking Didis”
Kuberjee’s model is built on trust. Its 5,000+ women Business Correspondent (BC) Sakhis, active across 6,000 villages, are more than agents they’re “Banking Didis” who bring credibility and personal connection to every transaction. This trust can’t be replicated by large fintech companies, no matter their scale.
Compliance and Partnerships
Operating as a licensed BC entity under RBI guidelines, Kuberjee partners with trusted banks and NBFCs to deliver secure services. Every agent undergoes IIBF certification, structured training, and hands-on practice to ensure confidence and transparency.
The Bold Vision Ahead
Kuberjee aims to reach 50,000 villages, build a network of 50,000 women agents, and serve 10 million rural customers in the next three years. The company is also developing an AI-powered rural financial scoring system a first-of-its-kind model leveraging community-level transaction data to enable fair credit access.
Recognition and Pride
One of Hitesh’s proudest moments was receiving the Startup Maharathi Award from Hon. Minister Piyush Goyal at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, a testament to Kuberjee’s impact as a women-led rural fintech innovator.
The Road Ahead
In the next 12 months, the focus remains on expanding the women agent network and entering new geographies, while adding services like gold savings, tailored rural loans, and insurance to deepen financial inclusion. Kuberjee is more than a fintech platform it’s a movement to empower women and transform rural economies, one village at a time.
