India has greenlit 17 more proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), adding to the seven previously approved, signaling a major push for domestic electronics production. The new approvals represent a ₹7,172 crore investment, projected to generate ₹65,111 crore in production value and create 11,808 direct jobs nationwide. This initiative aims to propel India’s electronics manufacturing sector toward a $500 billion valuation by 2030–31, according to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and IT.

The approved projects span nine states Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh demonstrating a commitment to balanced regional development and high-skill job creation beyond major metropolitan areas. This geographical distribution underscores the government’s focus on inclusive growth within the electronics sector.

The second tranche of approvals covers a diverse range of components, including India’s first Optical Transceiver (SFP) manufacturing facilities by Jabil Circuit India Private Limited and Zetchem Supply Chain Services Private Limited. Rakon India Private Limited will produce oscillators for precise timing in communication devices, computers, and industrial electronics. Aequs Consumer Products Private Limited will manufacture high-end precision enclosures for laptops and smartwatches. Camera Modules will be produced by ASUX Safety Components India Private Limited, Uno Minda Limited, and Syrma Mobility Private Limited. TE Connectivity India Private Limited will focus on connectors for various electronic applications.

Furthermore, nine companies Hi-Q Electronics Private Limited, Secure Circuits Limited, Zetfab India Private Limited, Ehoome IOT Private Limited, Sierra Circuits (India) Private Limited, Meena Electrotech Private Limited, AT & S India Private Limited, Micropack Private Limited, and Infopower Technologies Private Limited are set to produce Multi-Layer PCBs. These components are vital for sectors like smartphones, IT hardware, wearables, telecom, EVs, industrial electronics, defense, medical electronics, and renewable energy.

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that the ECMS is crucial for integrating the value chain, from devices to components, ensuring India achieves its $500 billion manufacturing target. Applicants have lauded the government’s support, citing MeitY’s proactive engagement and transparent processes as key to their projects’ advancement. Industry leaders believe that the Ministry’s solution-oriented approach has significantly boosted confidence and strengthened India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.

The Minister also unveiled the ARKA-GKT1, the 1st Generation Energy-Efficient Edge Silicon Chip (SoC), developed jointly by Cyient semiconductors Pvt Ltd and Azimuth AI. This chip integrates advanced computing cores, hardware accelerators, and secure sensing, enhancing performance while reducing costs. It supports smart utilities, cities, batteries, and industrial IoT, representing India’s move towards high-performance semiconductor innovation. The Hon’ble Minister of State for Electronics and IT highlighted that ECMS demonstrates India’s readiness to compete globally and create resilient supply chains.

The announcements were made at an event organized by the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), titled “The Foundation for a Globally Competitive Electronics Value Chain.”
