YouTube launched a suite of advanced AI-powered tools and forged key partnerships to strengthen India’s creator ecosystem and digital economy at its 2025 YouTube Impact Summit. According to a new Oxford Economics report released at the event, YouTube’s creative platform contributed over ₹16,000 crore to India’s GDP last year and supported more than 930,000 full-time equivalent jobs.
To empower creators, YouTube rolled out the “Edit with AI” feature globally via the YouTube Create app, streamlining video editing by auto-generating compelling first drafts from raw footage. Additionally, likeness detection technology entered open beta for YouTube Partner Program creators, helping safeguard against unauthorized AI-altered videos using their facial likeness.
The summit also marked strategic collaborations with the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), aimed at skills development, creative innovation, and improving access to credible health information. Initiatives include funding AI-enabled creative projects at IICT and expanding First Aid shelves with trusted medical videos in English and Hindi.
A standout feature introduced was YouTube’s conversational AI tool enabling viewers to ask questions and get instant answers directly within the video player, initially in English, with Hindi soon to follow. Safety features such as daily Shorts scrolling limits and youth protection controls were also announced.
YouTube’s managing director for India emphasized the platform’s commitment to responsible growth, stating these innovations are designed to fuel entrepreneurship and build India’s digital future. Overall, YouTube’s new AI tools and partnerships position it as a pivotal partner driving creativity, education, and economic opportunity on India’s rapidly growing digital stage.
