Netflix has launched a new standalone app for children called Netflix Playground, marking an expansion of its gaming efforts within the family entertainment segment. The app offers a curated set of ad‑free mini‑games tied to popular kids’ shows, accessible to subscribers at no extra cost.
Netflix Playground is designed for children under eight and is available on iOS and Android devices. The games are built around familiar characters and storylines, including titles based on Peppa Pig and Sesame Street. The app allows users to download games for offline play, enabling engagement without a continuous internet connection.
The service is ad‑free and does not include in‑app purchases, aligning with Netflix’s effort to create a controlled environment for younger viewers. The app is accessed through existing Netflix accounts, so no separate subscription is required for gaming.
Netflix has initially rolled out Playground in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. The company plans to extend the app to the rest of the world, including India, on April 28, 2026.
Playground sits alongside Netflix’s main streaming platform, reinforcing the company’s strategy of bundling more entertainment formats into a single subscription. The launch positions Netflix closer to dedicated kids’ gaming platforms, but with the advantage of built‑in integration into its existing subscriber base.
