Ride-hailing giant Uber is bolstering its engineering presence in India with two new technology centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, set to open by the end of 2027.
The announcement came from CEO Dara Khosrowshahi during a townhall at Uber’s Bengaluru office on May 14, 2026, capping a weeklong India visit that included meetings with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Bengaluru campus at Prestige Lakeshore Drive on Outer Ring Road will span over 1.1 million square feet, accommodating 5,000 employees and ranking among Uber’s largest facilities outside the US. In Hyderabad, the Meenakshi EcoPark site covers 901,115 square feet for 4,600 seats, leased at roughly ₹65 per square foot monthly for ₹839 crore over 10 years.
Together, the centers will support nearly 9,600 employees, underscoring India’s role as a key innovation hub for the company. This follows Uber’s May 13 partnership with the Adani Group for its first India data center, expected operational later in 2026 to scale global tech solutions.
Khosrowshahi’s trip highlighted Uber’s push into India’s two-wheeler segment amid rising fuel costs and competition. In Hyderabad, he discussed expanding the existing Centre of Excellence, which employs around 600 engineers, and interest in a corporate office in Bharat Future City. The moves align with surging demand for data infrastructure and AI capabilities in one of Uber’s fastest-growing markets.
