Google has begun a worldwide rollout of its Personal Intelligence feature for the Gemini AI platform, extending availability beyond the United States for the first time since its introduction in January. The feature will now reach paid subscribers on the company’s AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans. The European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom remain excluded from this phase.
Personal Intelligence enables Gemini to integrate with a user’s Google ecosystem such as Gmail, Photos, YouTube, Search, Maps, Calendar, and Drive to deliver personalized responses. The tool can draw contextual insights from emails, purchase confirmations, and travel schedules to streamline queries while maintaining user control through opt-in settings and app-level permissions. Google said users can toggle the feature on or off at any time, and Gemini does not train directly on personal data stored in Gmail or Photos.
The rollout began on January 14 as a beta offering exclusive to paying subscribers in the United States. It expanded to free-tier users domestically in March through Gemini in Search, Chrome, and the standalone app. The global expansion now includes markets such as India, Japan, Canada, and Mexico, with Google noting that free users outside the U.S. will gain access in the coming weeks.
European availability remains uncertain, as regional data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation have delayed similar launches. The feature is supported on desktop, Android, and iOS devices and will operate across all languages already available in Gemini.
