SaaS giant Zoho has acquired Asimov Robotics, a 13-year-old startup that builds robots for handling dangerous, repetitive, or inefficient industrial tasks. While the company didn’t reveal the deal size, it’s clear that this acquisition is part of Zoho’s larger plan to strengthen its R&D capabilities in cutting-edge tech like robotics. This isn’t Zoho’s first play in the robotics space either. Back in May 2022, it had invested ₹20 crore in another robotics startup, Genrobotics.

Founded in 2012 and backed by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), Asimov Robotics will continue its work in R&D, now with mentorship and guidance from the Zoho team. But Zoho’s ambitions don’t stop at acquisitions. The Chennai-based company is also partnering with KSUM to launch a Deeptech Product Studio which is a space designed to bring startups and innovators under one roof to build serious, future-ready tech.

To support this, Zoho has tied up with a lineup of deeptech players, including: Boson Motors, Vipus Advanced Materials, vTita, Zentron Labs, Verdant Telemetry & Antenna System, Netrasemi, Genrobotics, Energy 24by7 and IIT Bombay With these strategic moves, Zoho is quietly but firmly setting the stage to become a major force in India’s deeptech revolution.
