Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India’s electronics exports have exceeded USD 40 billion, an eightfold increase over the past 11 years. Speaking at IIT Hyderabad’s 14th Convocation, Vaishnaw also noted a sixfold rise in domestic electronics production during the same timeframe, a CAGR he described as highly desirable. He also updated on India’s bullet train project, anticipating operations by August or September 2027. Vaishnaw projected that the first domestically produced semiconductor chip at a commercial scale will be available this year. He voiced confidence that India is poised to become a leading semiconductor nation, driven by strategic investments in essential equipment and materials.
“In just 11 years, we have increased our electronics production six times… We have increased our exports eight times, crossed USD 40 billion exports in electronics manufacturing,” Vaishnaw stated, underscoring the rapid expansion. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and emphasized India’s ability to develop and deploy a complete 4G telecom stack in approximately three and a half years. This technology is now installed on nearly 90,000 telecom towers, surpassing the network infrastructure of numerous countries.
