HCA Healthcare, a Fortune 100 hospital operator with 191 hospitals across the US and UK, has inaugurated its first Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad. The facility, located in HITEC City, will focus on IT, supply chain, HR, finance, and other digital operations to support HCA’s global network. The company plans to invest $75 million by the end of 2025 and scale the workforce to 3,000 employees by 2026.

This move is significant for Hyderabad and the broader healthcare ecosystem for several reasons: Firstly, it reinforces Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for healthcare and life sciences. With over 800 pharma companies and several leading GCCs already present, HCA’s entry adds prestige and signals confidence in the city’s talent pool and infrastructure. This can attract other global healthcare giants to establish or expand their operations in Hyderabad.

Secondly, the center is not just about jobs, but high-value skill development. By focusing on digital operations and process excellence, HCA will train local talent in advanced healthcare IT, analytics, and operational management skills that are globally relevant and can position Hyderabad as a center for healthcare innovation beyond traditional pharma and biotech.

Thirdly, HCA’s GCC can indirectly improve healthcare outcomes in India. With research-backed operational practices and process innovations being managed from Hyderabad, there’s potential for knowledge transfer to local hospitals and startups, creating a ripple effect in clinical efficiency and patient care.

Finally, the investment strengthens Hyderabad’s economic and innovation ecosystem. Real estate, service industries, and tech talent markets benefit from such large-scale, high-quality GCCs, making the city more attractive to other sectors.
