Zoho has launched its own suite of Point-of-Sale (POS) devices under its Zoho Payments brand, marking a significant expansion into the digital payments and fintech hardware market. These new devices support multiple payment methods including credit and debit card transactions via tap, dip, and swipe, as well as UPI payments through static and dynamic QR codes. The POS devices come equipped with features such as integrated billing, receipt printing, barcode scanning, touchscreen interfaces, and connectivity options like 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Zoho aims to integrate these devices seamlessly with its broader ecosystem of business tools, including accounting, inventory, and CRM software, targeting B2B merchants and small businesses.
This launch is part of Zoho’s broader fintech strategy that follows its approval as an RBI-authorized payment aggregator last year. Zoho plans to gradually localize the production of these devices, currently sourced from abroad, in line with government initiatives to build a domestic ecosystem for POS hardware. Additionally, Zoho is enhancing its fintech offerings with new payment solutions such as salary payout automation, virtual accounts for collections, marketplace settlements, and UPI Autopay for recurring payments. Sridhar Vembu mentions in a X(Formerly Twitter) Post that Zoho is also working on integrating its payments with Arattai, its homegrown messaging app, to enable payment capabilities within the app. This hardware launch positions Zoho as a contender alongside companies like Razorpay, Pine Labs, and Paytm in the SME payments market in India.
