Oracle has revoked several campus placement and pre-placement offers extended to students at leading Indian engineering institutes, including multiple Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), according to media reports. The move comes soon after a major global restructuring at the company, which saw tens of thousands of roles eliminated worldwide, including a significant number in India.
Reports indicate that offers made during the 2025 campus hiring season have been withdrawn, affecting fresh graduates who were preparing to join the company in the coming months. Students from NIT Warangal, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad and IIT (BHU) Varanasi are among those impacted by the cancellations, according to accounts cited in recent coverage. A Reddit post shared by students also claimed that more than 50 offers across IITs had been revoked, though that figure has not been independently verified.
Oracle has attributed the decision to internal restructuring, changes in hiring capacity and the closure of certain business units for which these students were originally recruited. An institute official quoted in one report said that three offers at their college were cancelled after the company informed them it could not accommodate the affected candidates in other teams.
For many students, the timing of the revocations has compounded the impact. Several top engineering campuses follow a “one student, one job” placement policy, which typically prevents a candidate who has already secured an offer from sitting for subsequent recruitment drives. With most placement cycles now nearing completion, students whose offers have been withdrawn are left with limited options on campus and are increasingly turning to professional networks and social platforms to seek alternatives.
Individual students have also publicly shared their experiences. One NIT student wrote on LinkedIn that Oracle had withdrawn a pre-placement offer while clarifying that the decision was not related to candidate performance. Social media posts and online forums show others from IITs and NITs raising similar concerns and seeking leads for new roles.
Oracle has not issued a detailed public statement outlining the total number of offers affected or the specific campuses involved. However, the episode highlights how global cost-cutting and restructuring moves at large technology firms are increasingly spilling over into entry-level hiring, disrupting the career plans of graduating cohorts at premier institutions.
