Centre Flags EV Cyber Risks, Orders Software Audit Across Auto Industry

The Centre, through the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has directed automakers to audit software used in connected cars and EVs following Bluetooth-related security concerns. Manufacturers have been asked to strengthen authentication, secure OTA updates, and prepare for upcoming AIS-189 and AIS-190 cybersecurity standards. The advisory comes as India rolls out mandatory vehicle cybersecurity rules, while CERT-In continues to enforce stricter vulnerability assessment and incident reporting requirements.
