Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal sought to ease concerns over a proposed 12.5% US tariff on Indian exports, saying India is “not overly concerned” and may even gain a competitive edge. Speaking at a Financial Express event in Mumbai, he framed the move under Section 301 as directed at another country, while affirming confidence in a forthcoming interim India‑US trade pact. Talks with USTR Jamieson Greer are set within two weeks, aiming for a July conclusion.
