Vinod Khosla criticized Stanford students who walked out during Sundar Pichai’s commencement speech, calling the protest “biased, idiotic, short-sighted and very selfish.”
The walkout took place during Stanford University’s graduation ceremony on Sunday, when a section of students exited as the Google chief executive delivered the keynote address.
The protest was tied to objections over Google’s reported contracts and partnerships, including concerns about its links to the Israeli government.
According to reports, the students were not protesting artificial intelligence itself, but Google’s reported ties to Project Nimbus and related contracts, which drew chants of “Free Palestine” during the ceremony.
Khosla said the students were missing the broader value of AI and its potential impact for people around the world.
The stupidity of these @Stanford students to take the greatest opportunity for equality in humanity ever and to really free humanity and go walk out on @google
and @sundarpichai that's pioneered that. Biased, idiotic, short-sighted and very selfish. Selfish because they ignored…— Vinod Khosla (@vkhosla) June 14, 2026
