Authorities arrested 30 people during the NEET UG 2026 re-examination in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district after uncovering an alleged impersonation and cheating racket at multiple exam centres. Of those detained, nine were reportedly caught taking the test on behalf of other candidates.
The arrests were made during inspections conducted by district officials and police teams at multiple examination centres across Lakhisarai. According to authorities, one alleged impersonator was caught at KRK High School, seven at Kendriya Vidyalaya, and another at Hasanpur School.
Officials said the crackdown also led to the detention of 21 other individuals suspected of having links to the examination fraud. Investigators are now examining whether they were part of a larger network involved in facilitating cheating and impersonation during the exam.
The accused are currently being questioned, while a special police team has launched raids at several locations based on leads emerging from the investigation. Authorities believe more people could be connected to the case.
District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar and Superintendent of Police Prerna Kumar are closely overseeing the probe. Confirming the action, SDPO Shivam Kumar said that 30 people were detained during the NEET UG re-examination, including nine who were allegedly appearing in place of registered candidates.
Officials have not disclosed further details, stating that the full scope of the operation and the identities of those behind it will become clearer once the investigation is completed.
