Apple has introduced a new subscription option for App Store developers, enabling monthly billing paired with a mandatory 12-month commitment.
The feature allows developers to divide annual-style plans into smaller monthly payments while requiring users to fulfill the full year-long term. Users can cancel anytime, but they remain obligated to complete remaining payments; cancellation only prevents auto-renewal into a second year. Apple provides transparency by displaying completed and pending payments in users’ Apple Accounts, along with email and optional push notifications before renewals.
Developers can configure and test these subscriptions in App Store Connect and Xcode immediately. The option will launch publicly next month with iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, macOS Tahoe 26.5, and visionOS 26.5, available to users on iOS 26.4 or later equivalents worldwide except in the United States and Singapore.
Apple first hinted at the change in iOS 26.5 beta 1 last month, as noted by developers and media outlets. The rollout aligns with ongoing tweaks to Apple’s subscription model amid global regulatory scrutiny.
