India’s creator economy is moving from side hustles to structured jobs, with creator-related job postings rising 919% between 2020 and early 2026, according to a new Indeed report. The analysis suggests companies are increasingly bringing content and influencer work in-house rather than relying only on ad hoc collaborations.
Roles tied to creators now account for nearly 1 in every 100 marketing jobs, up from about 1 in 1,000 in 2020, the report said. In the period from March 2025 to February 2026, nearly 40% of creator roles were classified as influencer positions, while 20% were marketing executives and 17% were marketing interns.
The report also found that around 60% of creator-related hiring now falls outside traditional influencer titles. Those roles include video production, community management and content operations, pointing to a broader shift toward formal content teams inside organisations.
Indeed said the trend reflects a growing talent gap, as demand for structured creator roles outpaces the supply of candidates with those skills. The rise in hiring also comes alongside efforts to give India’s creator ecosystem more policy recognition.
