The Expenditure Finance Committee has approved a proposed INR 1.25 lakh crore outlay for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, pending Union Cabinet approval. The programme aims to strengthen domestic chip manufacturing, support the semiconductor ecosystem, and reduce import dependence. The government has approved 12 semiconductor projects and expects the initiative to help India meet up to 75% of its semiconductor demand by 2030.
