PayNearby’s MSME Digital Index Report 2026 says UPI and Aadhaar-enabled banking now make up 61% of transactions at semi-urban and rural MSME retail stores, though cash remains the largest individual payment mode at 37%. Cash withdrawals lead services at 51%, followed by Aadhaar banking (22%) and UPI (12%). The report also found 71% of retailers use AI tools, highlighting broader digital adoption beyond payments.
