Japanese enterprises are accelerating their Global Capability Centre expansion in India, according to Deloitte. The report says Japan has become the largest contributor to India’s GCC ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region.
Deloitte said more than 100 Japanese firms now operate GCCs in India. It added that these centres are increasingly being used for innovation-led and capability-driven work rather than only support functions.
The report said the focus is shifting toward areas such as AI, engineering and innovation. It also noted that the next phase of growth is expected to extend beyond the largest metros, with cities including Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kochi emerging as part of that expansion.
Deloitte linked the trend to deeper India-Japan business ties and broader investment momentum. The report described the GCC buildout as part of a larger shift in how Japanese companies are structuring their operations in India.
