Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Flying Whales President Sébastien Bougon in Paris on Thursday to discuss the French aerospace logistics company’s plans to establish a manufacturing ecosystem in India, according to an official statement. The talks focused on Flying Whales’ interest in making India a key base for its operations.
Bougon told Sitharaman that the company is looking to set up its entire manufacturing ecosystem in India, with the country positioned as a central hub for heavy-lift cargo airships. The discussions also linked to Flying Whales’ earlier partnership announcement with India’s BLP Group on April 2.
Sitharaman welcomed the company’s interest and encouraged Bougon to engage with India’s startup ecosystem in aerospace logistics. She also highlighted the International Financial Services Centre Authority framework at GIFT City and opportunities in ship and air-vehicle leasing as well as maintenance, repair and operations services.
The meeting came during Sitharaman’s visit to France, where she is also taking part in the India-France Economic and Financial Dialogue in Aix-en-Provence. The engagement is part of India’s broader effort to draw French investment and deepen cooperation in aerospace, manufacturing and financial services.
