Apple is now showing a permission popup when some AI prompts are sent to Google Cloud, adding a new layer of disclosure around its cloud-backed features. The warning has been spotted in Apple Creator Studio and in beta versions of iOS 26 and iOS 27, according to reports from AppleInsider and 9to5Mac
The popup tells users that their prompt will be transmitted to a Google Cloud server and says the data will not be used for training. In the reported workflow, users can either approve the prompt each time or allow the setting to be accepted automatically.
The feature is separate from Apple’s own Foundation Models and Apple Intelligence stack. AppleInsider said those models run on-device and through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, while the Google Cloud prompt applies only to select third-party AI functions such as image and shape generation.
Apple’s recent arrangement with Google is part of a broader collaboration around Foundation Models, but the reported popup indicates Apple is keeping a clear consent step for prompts routed outside its own infrastructure. Reports also say Apple limits usage for these cloud-dependent features through monthly caps shown in app settings.
