Andhra Pradesh is set to become India’s first AI-powered tourism state, according to announcements from the state’s tourism department and related reports. The rollout centers on the NiVU AI platform, which will be deployed across more than 100 tourist destinations over the next three years.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation signed a three-year strategic memorandum of understanding with Explurger to implement the initiative. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said the platform will first be introduced at 30 major destinations in the first year, following a pilot project in Mangalagiri.
The system is designed to let visitors scan a QR code at sites such as heritage attractions, temples, forts, beaches and caves to access information through voice or text. According to the reports, the service will support more than 130 languages and will not require tourists to download an app.
The service is expected to be offered free of cost, with the stated goal of making sightseeing more interactive and convenient. The initiative is also being framed by the state as part of its Swarna Andhra Vision-2047.
