Karnataka has announced plans to establish India’s first government-driven AI University and a dedicated AI Hub to boost AI research, innovation and talent development. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar made the announcement at Google I/O Connect India 2026 in Bengaluru. The initiatives aim to strengthen responsible AI adoption, expand digital infrastructure and encourage collaboration between academia, industry and government.
