SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung has warned that the global memory chip industry could face its biggest supply shortage in 2027 as AI demand continues to rise. He said demand is expected to remain above the company’s production capacity beyond 2030 despite expansion efforts. SK Hynix is increasing manufacturing, considering new wafer fabs, and expanding operations to meet long-term demand for AI memory chips. The company is also evaluating the U.S., Japan and Southeast Asia for future manufacturing investments.
