Bajaj Auto has disclosed that it and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Technology, were recently targeted in a ransomware attack. The company said it immediately activated its cybersecurity response protocols, informed CERT-In, and implemented safeguards to limit the impact of the incident.
Bajaj Auto and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Technology Limited, have been affected by a ransomware attack, according to a stock exchange filing made on June 23. The company said its technical teams, cybersecurity experts, and management responded immediately after detecting the incident and put safeguards in place to reduce its impact.
The automaker said the cyberattack occurred on June 23, 2026, at around 8:00 a.m. IST and was reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Bajaj Auto did not disclose details about the ransomware attack, including whether any data was compromised or whether production, sales, supply chain operations, or customer-facing services were affected.
The incident highlights the growing cybersecurity risks facing automakers as vehicles, factories, and supply chains become increasingly connected through digital systems. A successful ransomware attack can disrupt manufacturing, logistics, and access to critical business data.
The development comes as ransomware groups continue to target manufacturing companies. Recently, Tata Electronics reported a cybersecurity incident involving some of its systems. Security researchers said the ransomware group World Leaks published more than 200,000 files on the dark web, including component design and specification documents linked to customers such as Apple and Tesla.
Tata Electronics said it detected the issue several weeks ago and immediately activated response measures, adding that the incident had only a limited impact on its operations. Media reports also said Apple is investigating the breach and that Tata Electronics received a ransom demand related to the attack.
