The CBDT has issued new Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) guidelines, requiring crypto exchanges and other service providers to report specified transactions from 2026. The rules strengthen tax transparency by mandating user tax residency verification and transaction reporting without introducing new crypto taxes. Industry players welcomed the move, saying it brings greater clarity and aligns India with global reporting standards.
