Cursor has launched Cursor Start, a new subscription plan priced at ₹649 per month exclusively for users in India. The plan comes as the company’s user base in the country has tripled over the past year.
India is now Cursor’s third-largest market globally. Cursor creator Aman Sanger said on X, “Our user base in India has tripled in the past year, with more agent requests per user than any other country.” Cursor Start gives Indian developers a lower-cost option between the company’s Free and Pro plans. The Pro plan costs $20 per month, while Start is priced locally at ₹649, including taxes.
The Start plan offers access to Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5, along with more agent requests than the Free plan. It also includes cloud agents, Cursor for iOS, plugins, MCP servers, hooks and skills. The plan does not include access to every major AI model available through Pro. Pro subscribers also get features such as Bugbot, Auto Mode, Automations and the Cursor SDK, along with on-demand usage beyond the included limits.
India is the first market where Cursor has introduced localised pricing. The company said it launched the plan after Indian developers asked for pricing that better reflects the local market and support for UPI payments. The move comes as other AI companies increase their focus on India. Anthropic has introduced local pricing for Claude in the country, while OpenAI launched ChatGPT Go in India at ₹399 per month in August 2025 before expanding the plan worldwide.
OpenAI has also been promoting Codex among Indian developers through community programmes, including hackathons and workshops. Google has similarly expanded its AI and developer initiatives in India.
Cursor’s India launch comes shortly after SpaceX announced a $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 and is aimed at strengthening SpaceX’s position in AI and coding tools.
