Microsoft Edge 150 now supports Google account sign-in on Windows and macOS, adding a long-requested option for users who want to sign into the browser without a Microsoft account. The feature is being rolled out gradually and can be managed by administrators through Microsoft’s new policy controls.
The change marks a reversal from Microsoft’s 2020 stance, when the Edge team said it did not plan to integrate Google services into Edge by default. Microsoft first signaled the update in a June Microsoft 365 roadmap entry, and the feature began appearing in the stable release this week.
Users who see the update can access Google sign-in from the Edge profile menu or sign-in screen. Microsoft says the option is an addition, not a replacement, so existing Microsoft account sign-ins remain available.
Edge 150 also includes a broader security update, and it is the last version of the browser to support macOS 12 Monterey.
