Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has launched Inkling, its first in-house open-weights foundation model. The multimodal Mixture-of-Experts model has 975 billion parameters, with 41 billion active per task, supports up to one million tokens of context, and is built for enterprise customization. Inkling is available through the Tinker platform, partner providers and downloadable weights, intensifying competition in open-weight AI.
