Nvidia and more than 30 companies have launched the Open Secure AI Alliance, a new coalition focused on open-source technologies for AI safety and cybersecurity defense. The group brings together firms across cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise software and AI research.
The alliance includes Adobe, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, Dell Technologies, Elastic, HPE, Hugging Face, IBM, Microsoft, Palantir, Palo Alto Networks, Red Hat, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Siemens, Snowflake, SK Telecom and Synopsys, among others.
According to Nvidia’s announcement, the initiative is intended to help defenders build and share open tools that improve transparency, resilience and distributed security operations. The company said open models and tools can reduce dependence on a single provider and support community-driven defense.
Nvidia also pointed to a recent Hugging Face security incident as an example of why closed tools can be limiting during an attack. The company said its open-weight model helped the platform analyze more than 17,000 actions after the intrusion.
The launch also includes open-source contributions such as NVIDIA Labs Object-Oriented Agent, or NOOA, and projects tied to zero-trust identity standards, digitally signed patches and multi-model scanning. The alliance comes days after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang backed a separate open letter urging policymakers not to impose premature restrictions on open-weight AI models.
