India and the EU advanced toward regulatory alignment on ship recycling, with three Indian yards eligible for listing under the EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EUSRR). Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said 30+ yards applied, six under approval, and three fully compliant. India’s global share rose to 35.4% in 2025, nearly 60% growth. He announced a USD 8B plan to recycle 16,000 ships in a decade. EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall welcomed progress, proposing a Joint Working Group.
