India and Japan strengthened their special strategic partnership during Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s first official visit, adopting agreements on economic security, artificial intelligence, energy resilience and defence cooperation. The two countries prioritised semiconductors, critical minerals, clean energy and resilient supply chains, while announcing AI research partnerships, expanded defence dialogue, a 1,000-biogas-plant initiative and support for deeper business investment and technology collaboration.
