Tata Electronics has confirmed a recent cybersecurity incident after reports that a ransomware group published files allegedly tied to Apple and Tesla trade secrets. The company said its response protocols were activated immediately and that the incident has not affected operations across its businesses.
Researchers said the group, World Leaks, posted more than 200,000 files totaling over 630 gigabytes on the dark web. Reuters reported that the material included purported design and specification documents related to Apple and Tesla, both customers of Tata Electronics.
The reported leak has drawn attention because Tata Electronics sits inside the supply chains of two of the world’s most closely watched technology companies. Reuters said Apple is investigating its exposure to the incident, while Tata Electronics told Reuters the breach had no operational impact.
The case also highlights the broader cybersecurity risk facing global manufacturing networks, where sensitive product and supplier information can travel across multiple vendors and systems. Reuters reported that the alleged data had been accessible on the dark web since at least June 10.
